About Us

This section provides an introduction to the Perinatal and Maternal Mortality Review Committee (PMMRC), including information about our members, terms of reference, meetings, and the important role performed by agents and local coordinators.

The Committee has ten members appointed by the Minister of Health. The current Chairperson is Professor Cynthia Farquhar.

The Committee collectively reflect the following knowledge and experience.

Knowledge of quality improvement and risk management, in particular quality assurance in the health sector.
Knowledge of data and information gathering systems and analysis.
Knowledge and experience of clinical epidemiology.
Knowledge of DHB service provision and management.
Knowledge of Māori Health.
Knowledge of Pacific Island health.
Knowledge of consumer participation and representation.
